Traditional medicine is comprised of knowledge, skills and practises based on experience, observation of different cultures. It is not necessary that the action of the medicine has to be explicable.

Alternative Medicine or Psudomedicine are the practices or beliefs to cure any certain illness but its working principle cannot be explained or is impossible to prove with logical explanation. 

The word Ayurveda in Sanskrit means “lifespan build on knowledge.” Ayurveda works by maintaining a balance by having a healthy diet and lifestyle changes. 

It is the treatment of body’s ailment by using substances at highly diluted form which might otherwise cause harm to your body. It works by eliciting strong response from the immune system by adding adjuvants in a highly diluted form.

It is derived from ancient Chinese medicine. It works by stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and the muscles and release natural substances known as endorphins. It works on the principle that the body can get recover from ailments by restoring the flow of Qi in the body. 

It is the study of different types of plants and uses it for medicinal purpose or uses it as a supplement to food.  Many modern medicines have plant derived substances. Herbal medicine is also known as phytotheraphy and also sometimes include fungal and bee.

Herbal Cosmetics are derived from plants and generally do not have any negative side effect on the body. They also do not provoke any kind of allergies. Nutraceutical are dietary supplements and food additives that do not come under regulatory category. They have physiological benefits which protects against chronic diseases.

It is the science that addresses the whole body including mind and spirit. It falls under the category of alternative medicine practise. It works by restoring the unlimited free flow of life force through body, mind and spirit thus uniting them. 

Medicinal plants are used under traditional medicine. They have been shown to have defensive actions against insects, fungi and herbivorous mammals. A whole plant contains a diverse phytochemical. 

Naturopathy is based on natural healing and treating the root cause of the disease rather than just treating the symptoms. It is a distinct medical practise which emphasizes on self-healing and prevention rather than treating the symptoms.

 

It is a form of Traditional Medicine practiced in Mughal India and in Muslim culture in South Asia.  It is also influenced by Chinese Traditional Medicine. The diagnosis by this kind of medicine requires a thorough knowledge about the signs, symptoms and temperament

 

Chinese Medicine evolved in ancient China over a thousand years ago. It includes many methods of treatment like Tai chi, acupuncture etc. Unlike normal drugs which have to prove their efficacy to the FDA, these are used as food supplements.

 

It is a compound or chemical substance which is produced naturally from living organisms. Natural products are used not only as dietary supplements but also as cosmetics.
